The Association of Chinese Enterprises in Belgium and Luxembourg held its 2019 General Assembly

On March 21, 2019, the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Belgium and Luxembourg (“AECBL”) held its 2019 General Assembly at Brussels Tangla Hotel. Mr. CAO Zhongming, Ambassador of the Embassy of China in the Kingdom of Belgium, and Mr. ZHOU Zhaoming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of China in the Kingdom of Belgium, attended the General Assembly.



The General Assembly reviewed and approved 2018 Work Report and 2019 Plan Report, 2018 Financial Report and 2019 Budget Report, the nomination of new Vice President, the admission of new members in 2018-2019, the launch of AECBL’s website, and the decision of joining China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU).



In his speech, H.E. Ambassador Cao Zhongming expressed his congratulations on the achievements made by AECBL, and highly praised AECBL for the contributions to the development of the economic and trade cooperation between China and Belgium. Ambassador Cao pointed out that, since its establishment, AECBL has continued to grow and develop. Among its members are many well-known Chinese enterprises in various industries. In 2018-2019, the association participated and assisted the Embassy in a number of important trade events, organized a variety of activities for its members, and actively established extensive communication with Belgian government and business circle. The association has moved a big step forward and greatly expanded its influence last year.

Ambassador Cao stated that, China-Belgium relations have continued to improve and political mutual trust has been further enhanced. The economic and trade cooperation between China and Belgium has gained fruitful achievements. More and more “Belt and Road” projects were launched. This cannot be achieved without the efforts of Chinese enterprises.



Ms. He Liqin, President of AECBL, reported achievements made by AECBL in 2018, proposed the work plan for 2019, and launched the AECBL’s website. Ms. He stated that, in 2019, AECBL would continue to grow and explore ways to further strengthen its relationship with Belgian federal and regional government, represent the legitimate rights and interests of its members, enhance communications between member enterprises and governments, and actively promote “the Belt and Road” initiative.



The meeting was hosted by Mr. XU Chenbin, Secretary General of AECBL and Deputy Chief Representative of CCPIT Representative Office in Belgium.

In the interview, Mr. Xu Chenbin introduced the annual survey on Chinese enterprises in Belgium conducted by AECBL. It aims to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of Belgian business environment and its changing trends, as well as the concerns of Chinese enterprises. The Annual Report of Survey on Chinese enterprises in Belgium drafted by the Secretariat of AECBL has received wide recognition.
